Holiday Rental Apartments in Residencia Tamarix, Calle Minerva,Urbanisation Torreblanca , Torrevieja, Spain
This ground floor spacious two bedroomed apartment, comfortably sleeping up to six, is situated in an attractive, low rise, gated complex in the Torreblanca area of Torrevieja, only 5 minutes drive from La Mata town and 8 minutes drive from Torrevieja town centre. The apartment benefits from being in a quiet and relaxing area, yet within easy reach of all amenities.
Having been decorated and furnished in subtle colours, there is a feeling of airiness and space throughout the apartment .The lounge/diner has a double sofa bed and a table with four chairs. At the other end of the lounge there is a fully equipped American kitchen with full oven, hob , washing machine and microwave. From the kitchen there is a back door to a small utility area, providing further storage space. The bathroom is fully tiled from ceiling to floor in neutral shades and has a bath, shower, wc and bidet. There is a double bed in one bedroom and two singles in the other, both have wardrobes and cabinets with ample storage space. As well as ceiling fans in all rooms there is Air Conditioning which operates either cold or hot air, for your added comfort. There is also UK SAT TV installed for your enjoyment. Please note that smoking is not permitted inside the apartment and pets are not allowed.
There is a lovely communal swimming pool, with separate children’s area and is open 1000 – 1000 , all year round. It is surrounded by well kept green areas with pretty flowers and palm trees, and has showers and seating for guest’s comfort, making it an ideal spot to sunbathe, relax and watch the world go by.
The fully furnished and fully tiled large patio faces the outside, but the trees still give it privacy. It’s attractive lay out and spaciousness, along with the garden furniture make the patio the ideal spot for outdoor living and dining, whilst enjoying the sunshine or warm evenings.
Within around a 20 minute walk is the blue flag beach sandy beach of Torrelamata. Alternatively you can visit the stunning beach by the quaint town of La Mata or chose from the safe, sandy beaches of Playa de los Locos or Playa de la Cura on the outskirts of Torrevieja town. Both towns can be reached by catching a bus (around a 5 minute journey) from the commercial centre at Lomas which is around a five walk away. Bus A goes to La Mata town and Bus C goes to Torrevieja town along the coast route.
At Lomas you can also find several bars, restaurants, local shops and a children’s play area. However, within only a five minute walk behind the complex in Calle Perseo there is a supermarket which has a wide range of goods. You will also find a gift shop here which is an ‘Aladdins Cave’ with some very reasonable (and sometimes surprising) finds. For further choice follow the hill downwards and you will find the Hypermarket ‘Supervalu’ which is as it’s name says! Next door in ‘The Celtic Manor’ there is a bar / restaurant with a pretty outside terrace where they host live entertainment most nights of the week. Another popular sports bar is ‘Rumours ’ five minutes down the hill taking the left fork .
The British ‘Hispaniola Ship’ and Spanish ‘Bar Bahia Blanca’ behind the complex in Calle Perseo are also very popular bar / restaurants and offer some live entertainment and excellent value for money. Here you will also find an English run Internet café which provides a huge amount of information on the area, can book car hire and day coach trips with local pick ups. There is also a ‘cyber café’ next door!
In the area are several championship golf courses as well as a variety of activities for all ages such as go carting, cycling and boat trips from Torrevieja harbour. For water lovers there is the ‘Aquapolis’ waterpark open from June to September, you can take bus C there then a short walk or the drive will take around 10 minutes.
Please note that the area surrounding the complex is rather hilly in places and the apartment not adapted for wheelchairs. Therefore we feel it is not suitable for wheelchair users, the elderly or infirm.
In Torrevieja there is one of the biggest market in Spain held there on a Friday morning where a variety of purchases can be made. Torrevieja is situated next to the sea in the south of the Valencian Community. It is surrounded by two large natural saltwater lagoons that form the well-known "Salterns of Torrevieja", which are considered to be the biggest in Europe and second in the world. Some people bathe in the salt lakes as they are renowned for their healing properties.
In Torrevieja town there are several churches, The Archpriest's Parish Church of the Inmaculada Concepción being the most famous in the main square in Torrevieja ‘Plaza de la Constitution’. The building of this church on the site of former temples began in 1880.It holds the statue of the town’s patron saint, La Purisima Concepcion. This image arouses popular fervour in Torrevieja, especially on the two occasions a year that it is taken out for processions. One of the main attractions to Torrevieja are the variety of festivals and carnivals which take place every month.
There are many beautiful beaches, squares, walks, parks, gardens and other natural beauty spots (Ferriz), as well as some wonderful historical monuments such as the 'Modernist Casino' which dates from the begining of the century and has a famous hall in the mozarabic style. Also there is the 'Recinto de las Eras de la Sal' an open, air theatre. There are a variety of restaurants and bars catering for all tastes, pockets and ages plus a good choice of shops from budget to designer. On the outskirts of the town centre there is the popular ‘Habaneras shopping centre’ and the Ozone Complex with it’s bowling alley and cinema. Also several large hypermarkets with a huge selection of goods for sale at very reasonable prices can be found here, even with the fall of the pound against the euro.
If you prefer a smaller town, we suggest La Mata. Here are the remains of the old port at Torrevieja, called the Embarcadero Romano, or Roman Docks. Along this coast are the ancient watchtowers called El Moro and La Mata, used in the Middle Ages to warn the coastal inhabitants of attacks by Barbary pirates. La Mata is a smaller, more village like town than Torrevieja and the bus takes you directly into the square which is a gathering point for the locals, especially of an evening when they take their stroll. La Mata is a traditional small Spanish town with a friendly atmosphere.
There are pretty bars and restaurants, catering for all tastes, budgets and cuisines, for a beachside drink or meal. If you prefer to walk there is wooden promenade from Torrelamata beach (nearest to our apartment), right along to La Mata town. There are several tasteful bars lining the beach and along the promenade to stop and enjoy the view of the aqua blue warm sea and never ending sandy beach and dunes . The beach at the La Mata town end is particularly attractive and there is a children’s play park set back from it which is popular with tourist and locals alike. On a Wednesday morning a market is held in the colourful back streets where many a bargain can be found.
