Gandia is undoubtedly unspoilt by mass tourism and if you want to visit the "real Spain" this is it.
For sports enthusiasts, there is an 18 hole golf course 10 kms away, horse riding and scuba diving and of course absolutely fabulous walks where you can discover ice trails, disused railway lines along with long lost convents, water mills and delelict castles and medieval towns. Gandia has the Borgia Palace and within easy distance of Palma is the Knights Templar Castle in Peniscola and Xativa Castle - a town of a thousand fountains and the first place where paper was made. Although there are many other castles, these are the most spectacular. The nearest Safari Park is El Vergel and there are water and theme parks 40 miles away. The old Moorish town of Oliva is just 8 miles to the south of Palma.
If you are into water and beach sports there are plenty to choose from and leisure centres and tennis courts.
Gandia has its own special cosmopolitan sophistication with the Borgia Palace, Cathedral and old historic area. The wide tree paseo where in the evening you can stroll and drink a cup of coffee or a glass of wine at one of the many cafes.
We are surrounded by lush fertile orange groves, cherries, almonds and agricultural farms. With fabulous weekly markets selling fresh fruit and vegetables and supermarkets selling fresh fish. Valencia is approx 40 minutes by train although it can be accessed easily by car.
