The locality covered by this web-page doesn't just cover the city of Barcelona, we have included many towns within approximately a 30 mile radius for your own convenience. This area of Catalonia has long been a favourite for vacations, especially with other European visitors arriving in their cars from the north as it is a fairly short drive (only about seventy five miles) from the French border.BarcelonaThis is one of the most affluent regions of Spain, in fact it is one of the wealthiest areas in Europe. Unlike most of the towns & cities of the south, Barcelona has a quite large manufacturing and industrial sector, including automotive, chemicals and the ladies fashion trade.

Tourism is another very important trade with Barcelona City alone attracting the most arrivals in Spain. As a base for your holiday it can't be beaten, if you glance at your map, the surrounding countryside is full of interesting places to visit and if you wish to go a little bit further afield there is even the Principality of Andorra a couple of hours drive away. More information about the resorts will be seen on the individual town pages for your pleasure.

Although the current popularity of owning a vacation home in the sunshine here is not as common as in many of the southern coastlines of Spain, there is still an excellent choice of property for your examination, whether in the city proper, along the coast or a rural village.

Flights arriving at El Prat Airport are numerous with a good balance of budget or scheduled and major airlines servicing the province from all the major hubs, with airplanes landing almost continuously during the high periods. A little further to the north, although slightly smaller, is Girona airport which is a base for many budget airlines which allows you many more options. The climate of the Barcelona region is very pleasant in spring or autumn, with very high temperatures in the long summer, though if you are thinking of a winter break here, be fore warned it can get extremely cold.

For any of you that are hoping to practise your basic school Spanish, you may struggle sometimes as Catalan is the widely spoken language. If you plan to arrive by air or rail, and or staying outside of the Barcelona, or just want to tour the area, you may decide to hire a car, which is very simple nowadays and the selection of cars by suppliers are copious for your consideration, allowing you freedom to travel around, although it is probably not as necessary if you're only a short city break. There are hundreds of attractions to view in and close to Barcelona, both modern and historical, for adults or kids, everything that one would expect in a resort that caters for millions of foregeign and Spanish visitors, not forgetting the famous beaches, along the blissfully warm Mediterranean sea.

A visit to the city wouldn not be complete (for the women especially) without a shopping trip to see the fashion boutiques or maybe one of the outdoor markets, stopping often in one of the many outside bars or restaurants to refresh, you will not be disappointed! Barcelona accommodation is many and varied with either a quality hotel with a choice of all star ratings or a holiday villa or apartment with a own swimming pool.
